Reading of "Set Up" at Steep Theatre

My next project here in Chicago is a reading of Set Up, a play by Dan Noonan. In it I play a lawyer on a very awkward blind date. Unfortunately, I'm the one making it awkward! But the push and pull between the two has many twists, turns and surprises.

Set Up stars the magnificent Kristie Berger and is directed by Sarah Whitney. The reading is free and open to the public. Hope to see you there.

Fassi Goboggan and the Curly Headed Girl

Sorry to talk about this after the fact, but I had the wonderful opportunity of performing in and being musical director for a reading of a new musical by Pat Byrnes called Fassi Goboggan and the Curly Headed Girl at Theatre Building Chicago.

This wonderful show for children follows the imaginative adventures of Fassi Goboggan, an imaginary friend who thinks that he's the real person! The Curly Headed Girl, whose name is Sarah, has imagined him to help take away the pain of her father being away at war. [see the press release here]

Marvelous cast. Beautiful show. Another great experience at Theatre Building Chicago.

I will be participating Theatre Building Chicago’s Monday Night Musical series for a presentation of The Spark – Hannah Senesh on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 7pm. This is a musical in development by Noelle Donfeld and Sandy Shanin. I will be reading multiple roles and playing violin.

Back In Chicago!

As of August 27th, I am once again calling Chicagoland home.

For the past four years, I have been a resident actor at Wayside Theatre in beautiful Middletown, VA. I had the good fortune of appearing in 25 productions on their stage.

It was time for a move, though, and after spending the summer at the historic Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville, PA, it was time for a return to Chicago.

So the auditioning begins in earnest! In the meantime, I’m working on an adaptation of a children’s book that I plan to begin workshopping in October. That should keep me off the streets.

Finishing The Summer At Totem Pole

The curtain has just come down on I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, the final show of the 2009 season at Totem Pole Playhouse.

It was a true honor to work there this summer. The theater has a long and unique history and it feels good to have been a part of that.

NOW PLAYING - I Hate Hamlet

Larry continues his three-show run at Totem Pole Playhouse with the wonderful comedy I Hate Hamlet by Paul Rudnick.

Andrew Rally, a television star whose series has just ended, has the chance to play Hamlet for Shakespeare in the Park. He rents an apartment in New York that used to belong to the late, great Shakespearean actor John Barrymore. He hopes to get a little inspiration from the apartment, but gets more than he bargains for when he is visited by John Barrymore’s ghost.

Larry plays Gary Peter Lefkowitz, a Writer-Producer-Director who gave Andrew his big break. He is very LA, and can’t understand why Andrew would stoop to do…ugh…THEATER!
